Talented Indian squash player Anahat Singh has performed brilliantly and won the Girls Under-19 title in the 2023 Scottish Junior Open Squash held in Edinburgh. In the final match, he defeated Robin McAlpine by a margin of 11-6, 11-1, 11-5. In the girls’ under-11 category, Divyanshi Jain was the runner-up.

Gujarat government is going to start the country’s first submarine tourism. This project has been started around Bet Dwarka, a small island off the coast of Dwarka city. For this, Gujarat Government has joined hands with Mazgaon Dock Limited (MDL). This project is likely to start before Diwali 2024. The weight of this tourist submarine will be approximately 35 tons and its capacity will be to carry 30 passengers.

The Appointments Committee of the Union Cabinet has recently approved the appointment of Gujarat cadre IPS officer Vivek Srivastava as Director General of Fire Services, Civil Defense and Home Guards. Fire Services, Civil Defense and Home Guards function under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
4. (b) Hamid Karzai
Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai has been nominated by the United Nations Security Council as the special envoy for peace in Afghanistan. China and Russia abstained from voting on this resolution brought in the Security Council, while 13 countries supported this resolution. It is noteworthy that in the year 2021, Taliban had captured power in Afghanistan.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the first Sainik School for girls ‘Samvid Gurukulam’ Sainik School in Vrindavan, Mathura in Uttar Pradesh. The government had taken the initiative to establish 100 new such Sainik Schools in the year 2019, out of which 42 schools have been established. Under this, partnerships have been made with NGOs/private/state government schools.
6. (b) Kiran Deshmukh
Vice Admiral Kiran Deshmukh has assumed the charge of ‘Chief of Material’ in the Indian Navy. Vice Admiral Deshmukh is an alumnus of VJTI, Mumbai University and joined the Indian Navy in 1986. Vice Admiral B Shivakumar has taken charge as Controller of Warship Production and Procurement.
7. (c) Geetika Mehta
Skincare brand Nivea India has recently appointed Geetika Mehta as its new managing director. Geetika Mehta has over two decades of experience in the FMCG sector. Before this, Geetika was the Managing Director of Hershey India for 2.5 years.
