Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India’s first underwater metro in Kolkata. It has been constructed on the Hooghly River in Kolkata. This underwater metro tunnel is part of the East-West Metro Corridor of the city. With the commencement of this phase of Kolkata Metro, Howrah has become the deepest metro station in the country, which is located 32 to 33 meters below the surface.

2. (a) Hamirpur

Union Minister Anurag inaugurated Sansad Khel Mahakumbh 3.0 in Hamirpur (Himachal Pradesh), which is a great platform for young sports talents. On this occasion, Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid attended as chief guests.

3. (c) Madhya Pradesh

Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri inaugurated India’s first small scale LNG unit set up by Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL). This plant has been installed at Vijaypur LPG Plant in Madhya Pradesh. The Union Minister also inaugurated 201 CNG stations in 17 states.  

4. (c) Gujarat Energy Development Corporation Limited

NLC India Green Energy Limited has signed a power purchase agreement with Gujarat Energy Development Corporation Limited for 600 MW solar power project. The proposed 600 MW solar power project at Khavra Solar Park will be the largest solar power project developed by NLCIL till date.

5. (b) Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh government approved the proposal to set up two units of 800 MW at Anpara at a cost of Rs 8,624 crore in collaboration with Green Hydrogen Policy and NTPC. These decisions were taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The Green Hydrogen Policy has been set for 5 years.

6. (d) Jharkhand

Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren has launched the State Widow Remarriage Promotion Scheme. Under this scheme, an amount of Rs 2 lakh will be given to the widow who remarries. Recently, the Jharkhand government had presented a budget of Rs 1.28 lakh crore for the financial year 2024-25.

7. (c) Shahbaz Nadeem

Indian cricketer and left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. 34-year-old Nadeem now aims to play in T20 leagues around the world. He took eight wickets in those two Tests, including his best Test performance of 2/18. Nadeem has played for Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants in IPL.
