Answer:-

1. (a) Indore and Surat

Indore and Surat got the award of the cleanest cities of the country in the category of population more than one lakh in the Swachh Survekshan Awards 2023. Indore has received this award for the 7th consecutive time. Navi Mumbai got third place in this category. President Draupadi Murmu presented the ‘Swachh Survekshan-2023 Awards’ at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.  

2. (c) Sheikh Hasina

Awami League President Sheikh Hasina will be sworn in as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh for the fourth consecutive time. The President of Bangladesh will administer oath to the new Prime Minister in Dhaka. Besides, 25 ministers and 11 ministers of state are also likely to take oath. Awami League had won a landslide victory in the recently concluded elections.    

3. (a) Visakhapatnam

Indian Navy’s multinational exercise ‘MILAN’-24 will be organized in Visakhapatnam from 19 to 27 February 2024. Earlier, the 11th edition of this exercise was conducted in Visakhapatnam under the Eastern Naval Command in February-March 22. MILAN is a biennial multinational naval exercise that started in 1995 with the participation of four countries (Indonesia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand) under the Look East policy.

4. (b) Aman Sehrawat

Reigning Asian champion Aman Sehrawat won gold medal in men’s 57kg at the Zagreb Open 2024 wrestling tournament in Croatia. This was India’s first medal in this edition of the ranking series. Vicky and Sumit will compete in the men’s 97 kg and 125 kg weight categories of the freestyle category of the tournament respectively.      

5. (d) 31 January

The budget session of Parliament is starting on 31 January 2024. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the interim budget on 1 February. The session will begin with President Draupadi Murmu’s address to the joint meeting of both the houses of Parliament. This session is expected to continue till February 9.

6. (b) Viacom 18

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) recently signed a four-year agreement with Viacom18 to broadcast major hockey tournaments. This deal has been made for the period from 2023 to 2027. This includes all FIH events except the FIH Nations Cup. Hockey fans can watch on OTT platform JioCinema and Viacom 18’s linear channel network Sports18.   

7. (d) Sameer Kumar Sinha

The Central Government recently appointed senior IAS officer Sameer Kumar Sinha as Additional Secretary and Director General (Acquisition) in the Defense Ministry. Sinha, a 1994 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, is currently serving in his Assam-Meghalaya cadre. Sanjeev Kumar Jindal, who is currently Joint Secretary in the Home Ministry, will now be the Additional Secretary.
