In Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy inaugurated the 125 feet tall bronze statue of Dr. BR Ambedkar at Swaraj Maidan in Vijayawada. This statue has been named “Statue of Social Justice” and it is dedicated to Dr. It has been installed to remember the contribution of BR Ambedkar.

2. (a) Altair

Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT) Madras has joined hands with Altair to launch eMobility Simulation Lab. The Engineering Design Department of IIT Madras will develop it with the financial support of Altair. Altair is a company involved in simulation, high performance computing (HPC), and artificial intelligence (AI).    

3. (c) 302 crores

Union Minister Parshottam Rupala has announced allocation of Rs 302 crore for setting up artificial reef units on the shores of fishing villages in Vizhinjam, Kerala. This scheme has been started under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) of the Central Government and the State Fisheries Department. It has been started to promote sustainable fisheries and livelihood.    

4. (b) Chhattisgarh

Chhattisgarh state government has recently launched a new scheme named ‘Mahtari Vandana Yojana’ 2024. Under this, women will be provided annual financial assistance of Rs 1,000 every month/total Rs 12,000. To avail the benefits of this scheme, the applicant must be a resident of Chhattisgarh. This scheme is believed to be inspired by ‘Ladli Brahmin Yojana’ of Madhya Pradesh Government.  

5. (d) Solapur

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of 8 AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) projects worth about Rs 2,000 crore in Solapur, Maharashtra. He also launched the distribution of the first and second installments of PM-Swanidhi to 10,000 beneficiaries in Maharashtra during the program.

6. (a) Dr. Arvind Panagariya

The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the creation of three posts of Joint Secretary level for the 16th Finance Commission. This Finance Commission was constituted through a notification dated December 31, 2023. The Finance Commission in India is a constitutional body established under Article 280 of the Indian Constitution. Former Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog, Dr. Arvind Panagariya is the Chairman of the 16th Finance Commission.     

7. (b) ‘Kuwaiti Dinar’

According to a recent report by Forbes, ‘Kuwaiti Dinar’ is the most powerful currency in the world. Bahrain’s currency ‘Bahraini Dinar’ is in second place and Oman’s currency ‘Omani Riyal’ is in third place. The world’s second most traded currency ‘Euro’ is at 9th place in the list and US dollar is at 10th place. According to this report, the United Nations currently recognizes 180 currencies as legal tender.
