Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the signing of a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that established the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT-D) campus in Abu Dhabi.

This development, which is a part of the ‘IITs Go Global’ campaign, represents a significant advancement in India’s efforts to share its educational know-how with other countries. According to Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the National Education Policy (NEP) would be supported by the establishment of the IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi campus, which will serve as a symbol of the close ties that bind India and the UAE and promote prosperity on both sides of the world.

When Will The Classes Begin?

The Abu Dhabi campus of IIT Delhi seeks to create a new standard for utilising the potential of knowledge to promote shared prosperity and improve humankind. The campus will provide a variety of educational programmes when master’s courses begin in January 2024 and bachelor’s courses begin in September of that same year. This new international campus serves to further demonstrate IIT Delhi’s dedication to excellence and innovation.

Collaborative Effort By The Uae And Indian

Building on the joint vision statement released by India and the UAE in February of that same year, the decision to develop an IIT campus in the UAE was first made public in August 2022.

Many nations had indicated interest in hosting IIT campuses, but IIT Delhi was ultimately selected to carry out this major project due to its earlier interest in establishing campuses in Saudi Arabia and Egypt. The project showcases the two countries’ common dedication to fostering academic achievement and international educational exchange, as well as their collaborative spirit.

IITs Pioneering International Campuses

Following IIT Madras’ recent accomplishment of obtaining an MoU for the building of a campus in Zanzibar, IIT-Delhi has entered the Abu Dhabi market. The Zanzibar campus is particularly significant because Director-in-Charge Preeti Aghalayam is a woman.

This shows how committed the IITs are to diversity and inclusivity while also highlighting their role in both national and global growth. As these prestigious institutions export their expertise to other nations, the IITs’ audacious endeavours mark a paradigmatic shift in India’s higher education scene. The IITs are increasing access to high-quality education and fostering better international relationships by building foreign campuses. The IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi campus will leave its mark on the UAE, setting the foundation for improved collaboration, knowledge sharing, and educational innovation.
