Indian educational institutions are well-known for producing elite talent, with IITs, IIMs, and NITs frequently setting records for placements. Anurag Makade, a BTech student at the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Allahabad, bucked convention and received a staggering Rs 1.25 crore bundle from Amazon despite having no IIT, IIM, or NIT degree.
The Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Allahabad had a great placement season last time around, with as many as 5 students receiving employment with annual packages exceeding Rs 1 crore. Among them was Anurag Makade, who received one of the largest shipments of Rs 1.25 crore from the US-based e-commerce giant Amazon.
“Greetings folks, I’m super excited to share that I joined Amazon as a Frontend Engineer!” Anurag shared the news on LinkedIn.
According to his Facebook profile, he studied BTech in IT at IIIT Allahabad and is originally from Nashik. Anurag has previously worked as a software engineering intern for cure-fit in Bengaluru, Karnataka, and as an Analyst Intern for American Express in Gurugram, Haryana, before joining Amazon in Dublin, Ireland. In September 2022, he began working as a full-time Frontend Engineer at Amazon.
Aside from Anurag’s outstanding success, Pratham Prakash Gupta of IIIT Allahabad received a 1.4 crore package from Google. Furthermore, Amazon reportedly hired Palak Mittal for compensation worth more than Rs 1 crore, while Rubrik offered Akhil Singh a package worth Rs 1.2 crore.
