The Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode, welcomed its first batch of armed force officers for a 6-month certificate programme. The initial batch includes a total of 44 officers from the armed forces who will receive training from the experts at the institute to help them transition from the military to the corporate world. The Directorate of General Resettlement has partnered with IIM Kozhikode.
‘Business Management Programme for Defence Personnels’ is the name of the certificate programme, which lasts for six months. 12 Indian Army officers, 22 Indian Navy officers, and 10 Indian Air Force officers make up the inaugural cohort.
In his address to the entering class, Professor Chatterjee stated that this curriculum will give a unique platform for defence professionals to strengthen their management skills and broaden their understanding of the evolving global business world. The course will broaden their knowledge, encourage international cooperation, increase their employability, and sharpen their leadership and decision-making abilities.
The Directorate General Resettlement (DGR) is an inter-service institution that reports to the Ministry of Defence’s Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare. Every year, a sizable number of members of the armed forces retire or are released at a relatively young age. With a strong focus on the changing needs of business and industry, DGR helps these ex-service members learn and pick up new skills in order to facilitate their resettlement.
Brigadier Rohit Mehta, ADG, Directorate General Resettlement (DGR), Ministry of Defence, and Professor Debashis Chatterjee, Director, IIM Kozhikode, were present when the first batch was inducted.
