One of India’s leading engineering schools, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, will soon offer an online Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree curriculum in data science and artificial intelligence. The curriculum seeks to give students the knowledge and abilities needed for successful employment in data science and AI.
This action is in line with the National Education Policy 2020, which emphasises the need to train professionals in emerging fields to improve employability. It also responds to the growing demand for data science and AI professionals across various industries, driven by the digital revolution and the adoption of generative AI. IIT Guwahati wants to address this need and boost the Gross Enrollment Ratio in higher education in light of the World Economic Forum’s forecast for the rapid expansion of IT roles.
Highlights Of Iit Guwahati’s Bsc In Data Science And Ai Online Course
Admission: Students must have completed Class 12/High School, or the equivalent, with at least 60% of the grades required, and mathematics must have been one of the required subjects. The applicants will be ranked by the admissions committee based on how well they did in the online MOOC, Classes 10 and 12, and overall academic performance. Those who have registered for JEE Advanced receive direct admission, while others must finish an online course to verify their proficiency and gain access.
Fees: INR 3,49,000
Duration: 4 to 8 years (299 credits, 18 to 20 hours a week of study time)
Mode: 100% online, with optional campus immersions and hands-on learning from anywhere.
A Variety Of Exit Options
With mostly asynchronous courses, the online degree programme enables students to advance their studies at their own pace. Students have the chance to interact with instructors and fellow students through optional campus visits. On the basis of their earned credits, students can choose from a variety of exit options in the programme, earning certificates, diplomas, degrees, and even honorary degrees.
Collaboration With Coursera
To make this programme available throughout the world, IIT Guwahati has teamed with Coursera, a well-known online learning platform. On July 19, 2023, applications for the BSc (Honours) in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence programme will open, and classes are expected to start in October of that same year.
