On July 19, 2023, the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati and the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop capacity and skills in international relations and foreign policy.

The Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA), India’s foremost and oldest think tank on foreign policy and international affairs, and IIT Guwahati have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as a result of Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar’s visit to the Institute earlier this month.

Primary Objective

On July 19, 2023, Professor Parameswar Krishnan Iyer, Officiating Director, IIT Guwahati, and Ambassador Vijay Thakur Singh, Director-General, ICWA, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on their shared goal of enhancing public understanding and knowledge of international affairs and Indian foreign policy. The contract will be in effect for three years.

Intellectual growth of participants in Assam-based universities, academic institutions, businesses, and other partners in terms of awareness of world affairs and Indian foreign policy and collaborating on studies on topics of interest through mutually agreed-upon procedures.

During his speech at the 25th Convocation of IIT Guwahati, the Vice President of India and President of the Indian Council of World Affairs, Jagdeep Dhankhar, announced this partnership. According to the vice president, “This partnership would open the institute’s window to a world of a different nature.”
